R2R – A sustainable loop for carpets

The “R2R – Born Regenerated to be Regenerable” recycling process developed by our yarn manufacturer and partner Aquafil ensures that carpets can be fully reintroduced into the production cycle at the end of their useful life. This means that old carpets are turned into new ones – with no loss of material and a minimal environmental footprint.

An innovative and pioneering concept for transforming waste into valuable resources. So how does it work?

How does it work?
Label for
recycling

The carpets are marked with the R2R’ label right from the manufacturing stage. This ensures that the carpet can later be identified as recyclable – even if the original manufacturer is no longer known.

Separation of materials

Carpet consists of various materials, usually yarn and a backing. Before recycling, these two components are separated through the use of heat.

Regeneration of raw materials

After separation, the materials are cleaned, processed and made reusable using a special process.

Returning to the
production cycle

The recycled materials are reused by suppliers to manufacture new carpets – without any loss of quality.

2nd Chance –
Our Take-Back Programme

What is our approach and how do we implement the ‘2nd Chance’ take-back programme? We want to ensure that the life cycle of our products is extended wherever possible and help you conserve resources. If you or your customer wish to replace the flooring, this does not necessarily mean that your used carpet tiles can no longer be used.

We take back used carpet tiles from our own range that were installed using fix4tiles and put them to good use to create further added value in the most sustainable way possible. By reusing discarded products, we support community projects, local businesses and charities.

Durability from day one

Decisions regarding product reuse begin as early as the development phase. With the SL Sonic backing, for example, we can increase the amount of recycled material in our carpet tiles. These now contain approximately 70% recycled materials, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of our carpet tiles.
High-quality yarn and superior workmanship are essential for these highly durable tiles, which deserve a second chance, thereby extending their life cycle by up to 100%.

Reuse and recycle

To close the loop, we recommend reusing used floor coverings – this not only extends the lifespan of our products but also allows us to support charitable projects and organisations.

Would you like to take part in our “Second Chance” programme and give your used carpet tiles a new lease of life with our support? Our customer service team and our sales representatives will be happy to advise you.
