Our Poduction

Leading examples of
environmental protection

We would like to take you on a journey along our ‘DAS TEPPICHWERK – Weg’ and give you an insight into a fundamental aspect of environmental protection: the heart of our company – our production.

We moved away from the ‘end-of-the-pipe’ approach long ago and instead focused directly on the production process. Rather than removing production waste from the environment – specifically the air and water – and then disposing of it, process changes mean that this waste is not produced in the first place. This has become particularly evident through the implementation of major projects, which have enabled us to significantly reduce our environmental impact:

Automatic paint dosing
and mixing station (FDA)

This involves the operation of an automatic paint dosing and mixing station (FDA), which, in conjunction with the process changeover, prevents the generation of waste materials that previously had to be disposed of.

Non-use of bitumen and PVC

As no bitumen or PVC is used in the tile manufacturing process, no harmful emissions are produced. Tiles with an SL Sonic backing are bitumen and PVC free and made in Germany.

In-house recycling facility

DAS TEPPICHWERK has been operating its own recycling plant since the early 1990s. In 2025, 75 tonnes of carpet waste were recycled in-house and incorporated into the carpet as a substitute for adhesive. To achieve this, carpet scraps from production and PE pellets are mixed in a 30/70 ratio and ground down; the resulting fine grain mixture, approximately 300µm in size, is then scattered between the backing fabric and the carpet pile and serves as an adhesive layer for the pile. The use of our own recycled material is a valuable contribution to sustainability.

Dust filter systems

We operate dust filtration systems that filter approximately 15 tonnes per annum of fibre dust and yarn fibres from the air and feed them into an external recycling process. Here, the fibres are used as a filler in new plastic products.

Solar power system

By installing a 499 kWp high-performance PV system, we have taken another step towards an environmentally friendly future. The PV system was installed across 3,500 square meters of our industrial building roofs.

Compared to conventionally generated fossil fuel energy, the system saves approximately 160 tonnes of CO₂ per year and will have produced 470,000 kWh of green energy by 2025.
